Joyce Trandem, OD
Optometrist

Dr. Joyce Trandem started her career in Optometry in the Philippines and after a few years, continued her practice in Bahrain, where she met her husband. When her husband’s tour of duty ended, they relocated back to United States, where Dr. Trandem completed her US-credentialed Doctor of Optometry degree while simultaneously working as a licensed optician and store manager at luxury optical stores.

Dr. Trandem received both her Bachelor of Visual Science degree and Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University in Oregon. While attending Pacific University, she was a liaison to College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) and Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF) and received the Optelec Excellence in Low Vision Award.

She completed her clinical externships providing primary eyecare and managing ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma at Silverton Eyecare, Pacific University Eye Clinics, Foundation for the Blind Children, Salem Veterans Affairs, and Kaiser Permanente in Oregon and Washington States. After graduation, she decided to go back to her home state of Arizona to practice Optometry.

Dr. Trandem’s passion for vision care has been her mission and her inspiration. She has participated in multiple vision outreach missions both locally and internationally, supporting organizations such as OneSight and Amigos/Vosh International who provide eyecare to communities in need.

Dr. Trandem is thrilled to be part of Viewfinder Low Vision team and share her expertise in optometry to help patients reach their visual goals.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Trandem enjoys her time with her family, supporting her kids’ musical ambitions and her husband’s endless projects.
